Sending out elopement announcement cards to your friends and family is easier than ever!
Did you just run away to say your I DOs? Was it New Zealand? Alaska? Wherever it was…
Coming back from your dreamy elopement, you are probably looking to tell the world that – YOU DID IT!
Whether you are looking to just announce it or gather your closest friends and family for a wedding celebration, you will need an elopement announcement card or invitation with all the details!
What Do You Write in An Elopement Card?
Besides “We got married!”, what else are you meant to say on your elopement card? That’s the question. Well, before we go ahead and do that, it’s important to establish if your friends and family have some knowledge of your elopement or they have absolutely no idea of it. That will most likely determine the tone of where your elopement card is going.
- Start with “Surprise!”, “We eloped!” or “We did it, now let’s celebrate” to your friends and family who are receiving this exciting news for the very first time! If you are changing your last name, you can also introduce the two of you as the new Mr & Mrs to add on the excitement…
- Tell them when this special day actually happened and where it took place. If you had a destination elopement, tell them which city and country you two tied the knot. Your loved ones want to know all the details!
- Mention something along the lines of “While you were not there in person, you were there in our hearts on our special day” and be prepared that some of them will be upset about this.
- Share some photos and fun memories from your elopement so they can get a glimpse of what it was like.
- Include details of your wedding party celebration if you are having one. Not having a party? You can say something like “Can’t wait to see you in the near future!” to end the elopement card.

“Vivian Yeung (For the Love of Stationary) was like an angel sent from heaven when we needed wedding reception invitations on short notice. My son and daughter-in-law married a month earlier at Zion Nation Park, Utah and had to return to work quickly with no time to firm up a reception time back home. I decided to take the lead and began the process.
We loved the elopement invitations from “For the Love of Stationary” and settled on a design quickly. I was like the middle man and had to gather info from the couple and the merchant. Vivian treated me like a friend or family member, offering “tender loving care” throughout the process. She communicated often to make certain that she understood exactly what we wanted, e-mailed and made changes as quickly as possible, forwarded the proofs for our approval, and always had such a wonderful disposition and patient attitude (while I got back to the couple, then back to her). Even when we felt insecure, she assured us that the project was on schedule, and she was right.
The invitations were a hit and were absolutely gorgeous. They are unique and so many made of our friends commented that they loved the invitations. I highly recommend Vivian and her company. You will love the results.” –Wanda Ruffin
