How Do You Announce An Elopement?
You can announce your elopement in many ways but our favourite is to create a personalised announcement card with your wedding photos and mail them out to your loved ones. Why, you may ask? Because receiving anything personal in the mail is so rare these days and by doing this will definitely make your friends and family’s day!
Firstly, all you need to do is:
- Choose an elopement announcement card design (See link here)
- Pick your favourite wedding photos
- Write your personal message to say thank you or simply announce your wedding
We created this blog post on elopement announcement card wording ideas and examples so that you can get inspired to put your wedding announcement together and send them out to your loved ones.
Without further ado, here’s the list…

17 Elopement Announcement Card Wording Ideas and Examples:
1. Happily Ever After Party Invitation
If you are planning to have a party back home after your elopement, you can steal this “Happily Ever After Party” invitation idea to ask your guests to join you to celebrate your marriage.
We love this postcard invitation from Andrew and Allison!
2. Join Us for a Wedding Reception/Housewarming Party
This cute invitation is perfect for those of you who perhaps have just moved into a new place after your elopement. This acts as an invitation for a wedding reception/housewarming party. Love this “We’re married, now let’s celebrate!” invitation!
3. We Do, We Did, We Eloped!
Like this elopement card here, your wedding photos might have some beautiful space that allows your wording to go on top of it. If that’s the case, we highly recommend that you let your photo fill the space instead of leaving a white border like the previous ones. Don’t you just love how amazing it looks with this photo by the beach!?
In addition, your personal message should include where you guys eloped and if anyone joined you for a small ceremony so that they get an idea of what your wedding was like.
“With happy hearts and joyful souls we took our love to the beautiful Hastings Point lookout and exchanged our vows. Although we decided to celebrate our love with an intimate and private ceremony, please know that on this special day you were in our thoughts and hearts.”
4. Nothing Fancy, Just Love Announcement Card
Always add a bit of personality in your cards. In other words, feel free to include a quote or scripture that represents your love or who you are as a couple. It makes the elopement announcement card more personal.
“Because your love and friendship have made us who we are, we are very happy to share the news.
With the love in our hearts, and our girls by our side, we exchanged vows in a private ceremony on the twenty-fifth of February two thousand and eighteen in Dallas, Texas.
Although you were not there in person, you were there in our hearts.”

If you are ready to celebrate with your loved ones on your return, you will love this “Yeah, we did, now let’s celebrate!” invitation. 7. “We Eloped” Wedding Announcement Card
If you are struggling to choose one photo for your elopement announcement card, you should go for the multi-photo personalised card option. Heidi and Damien had the same dilemma because their wedding photos turned out amazingly so they decided to pick three of their favourites to highlight their special day!
